I think Deezen is probably my most adored design site online, from the most informative innovative design posts, to the down-right nitty gritty political answers and questions that'll make you think that there is a question time round two. The audience ranges from all over the place with guns of speech ready to defend, attack and shoot; you get some of the most comical and passionate readers. They just continue to slate, love and pretty much conquer (don't worry, i'll stop with the action filled sentences soon) a person's creative utopia.

This is probably where i spend my two to three hours worth of the week just browsing, laughing (to myself obviously) and commenting. If you don't know about this site, you better know now as the future is rapidly changing and a lot of creative people are changing the way we think and see things.

Before I studied architecture I never thought anything of it except that i'd have to measure (hello mathematic equations that I haven't seen since A Levels) and simply design, but it's so much more than that. Architecture is a fancy word that simply puts everything in one box. It is art and maths, but it is also psychology (in relation to feelings, function and human activity), business (you are the only selling point), politics (the image and culture), history (materials, Roman and Greek methods), science (construction and sustainability) and geography (typology, inhabitants, light and land). Mmm, yup, my head hurts and these seven years at uni now becomes more of an 'ohh' than 'ahh'.

But fear not *my head is starting to cool down now*, although Deezen is very much professional it is also enables readers to not have a creative overload. Recently, Federico Babina (I know, his name already makes me want to dance), has cooled me down away from comments, opinions and construction details. He is an Italian architect and illustrator who uses his inventive imagination to execute different portrayals. The Archiset series sees Babina use a multiple range of film set designs and illustrates them into cross section doll houses.

"The idea was to find a different form of expression to be able to enter and walk inside a movie," -Babina told Deezen

Whereas, the Archist displays Babina using his imagination to erect notable artist's styles and devises them into architectural forms. He challenges the symbiotic relationship of art and architecture and their interaction.

For me, Federico Babina, Bravo, Bravo!

  1. That's amazing, now you've made me wish I was studying architecture! Do you know if these are available to buy as prints at all?
